Term

Muslim

By birth (Muslim parents) or by conversion (professes Islam). Bona fide profession enough; colourable conversion ignored.

Shariat Act 1937

S.2 — Shariat governs Muslims in marriage, dower, divorce, gifts, wakf, succession, etc., over custom.

Sunni schools

Hanafi (largest), Maliki, Shafei, Hanbali.

Shia schools

Ithna Ashari (largest; allows Muta), Ismailia (Khojas/Bohras), Zaidya.
